In 2017, guided by the scripture, “I was in prison and you visited me” (Matthew 25:36),
Lorae Foundation’s Love for All Outreach journeyed into a new and deeply impactful
space—the Senior Correction Centre near James Camp Prison in Accra. It was our first
visit to a juvenile correctional facility.
Before our official outreach in December, we joined the boys for a worship session, as
advised by the Prisons Headquarters, to prepare for the reality of our visit. The center housed
about 200 boys, each with a story—each still with potential.
On the outreach day, we arrived early. Phones were surrendered at the gate in compliance
with regulations to protect the privacy of these young souls. One of our team members shared
a powerful word, reminding them that their current situation wasn’t their final
destination—that with God, transformation was possible.
Though we couldn’t host games or dine with them due to strict supervision protocols, the
word was shared, advice was given, and hope was sown. The boys were called dorm by dorm
to receive their meals and the items we donated. We took a few photos outside the facility,
our hearts full, reminded that even behind bars, God’s love reaches deep.
